When we are following Jesus, love isn’t a suggestion, it’s a command.
First, He calls us to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Second, He tells us to love others as He first loved us. He says that love is what we will be recognized by as His disciples. This isn’t always easy and doesn’t always come naturally, but He has given us a perfect example to follow.
Our fleshly tendency is to love with expectations, where Jesus calls us to love unconditionally. We tend to only want to love others when they deserve it, but we were loved even when we least deserved it.
Live out His command to love. It will transform your life and the lives of those around you. Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment.
And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Matthew 22:37-39
